Privacy Policy

Kept Close ("we," "us") is an independent publisher of memorial planning guides based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This policy explains what information we collect on keptclose.co, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions any time: support@keptclose.co.

What we collect

• Information you give us. If you request a planning guide, we collect your email address. If you use our funeral-provider connection service, we collect the details you enter: your name, phone number, city or postal code, and your answers about timing and the type of service you're considering.
• Usage information. Like most websites, we use analytics tools that collect information about how the site is used: pages viewed, buttons clicked, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived here (for example, from an ad). We use PostHog (which may record how a page is used, with anything you type masked and never recorded), and may use Google Analytics.
• Advertising measurement. When you arrive from an ad, we and our advertising partners (such as OpenAI, for ads shown in ChatGPT) may use cookies and click identifiers to measure that the ad worked. These identifiers don't contain your name or contact details.

How we use it

• To send you the guide you asked for.
• To connect you with one matched, licensed funeral provider in your area — only when you submit our form and check the consent box agreeing to exactly that.
• To understand which pages help people and which don't, and to measure our advertising.

Who we share it with

• Licensed providers. If you use the funeral connection service, we share the details you submitted with one matched, licensed funeral provider so they can contact you about your request — as described in the consent you give on the form. We do not sell your information to marketing lists.
• Service providers. Companies that help us run the site: website hosting, form processing, email delivery, analytics (PostHog, Google), and advertising measurement (OpenAI). They process information on our behalf.
• Affiliate networks. When you click through to a product we cover (for example, Parting Stone or Eterneva), the affiliate network records the click so we can be paid a commission. This uses click identifiers, not your name or contact details.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies for analytics and to measure advertising (including an ad-click reference cookie). You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.

Your choices and rights

• Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link.
• You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing support@keptclose.co. We'll respond within 30 days.
• You can withdraw the consent you gave for a provider referral before we've passed your details on by emailing us.

Retention and security

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, then delete it. Information is stored with reputable providers using industry-standard security. No internet transmission is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share.

Children

This site is intended for adults and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. We comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). For anything privacy-related: support@keptclose.co.
